How might we

Increase user activity & story creation? 

Localhood Stories are a web-based version of the popular social media story format. This means they don’t expire after 24 hours, they live directly on the web and can be found organically via Google. Our main objective is to encourage Creators to make more Stories, so everyone benefits.

Spotlight Page

Two ways to encourage user activity, are: (a) send notifications at the right time to our Creators, and (b) create a Spotlight page.

Based on interview feedback, Localhood users wanted a page where they could discover other Creators’ stories. This not only creates a sense of community, it also inspires our users to create better content that travel brands can consume.

Notifications

Sending notifications at the right time without irritating our user is key. There are a few different ways to introduce notifications:

  • iOS push notifications: these can be time sensitive so our Creator’s never miss an opportunity to submit content to Challenges.

  • In-app notifications: which will guide our Creators while they interact with the app in a more subtle manner.

  • Notifications page: so Creators can access a single source of truth with all notifications in one place.

Business Impact

  • Spotlight Page

    Qualitative feedback in user interviews has been positive. Our analytics data shows a 23% increase in “stories per active user“, one of our KPIs.

  • iOS Notifications

    44% increase in user activity upon receiving a time sensitive push notification. 31% increase in Story creation.

  • In-App Prompts

    A combination of the in-app prompts and the Notifications page itself have increased user activity and Story creation by 44% so far!

  • Increase in quality & volume

    Travel Partners noted an overall increase in the quality and volume of Localhood Stories they could choose from.
